Bon Appetit’s ‘Healthyish’ is Coming to SF with a Dinner Honoring Women in the Industry & Beyond
If you know your kale from your turmeric, you’ve probably heard of Healthyish, the new-ish website from Bon Appetit magazine. On it, delicious recipes and informative stories serve a good dose of healthy, minus the preaching part. On March 27th, San Francisco will become the first destination for the website’s new dinner series, Healthyish Superpowered, which celebrates visionary women in food and beyond.
“We grew an astonishing community across the country, and in our second year, wanted to be more than just a site, to allow people to experience Healthyish in real life,” says editor Amanda Shapiro, who will co-host the dinner at Gabriela Camara’s acclaimed restaurant Cala. “Unlike a food festival or wellness retreat, we wanted to do something original and highlight local women.”
The upcoming three-course dinner will be orchestrated by Camara herself, with wine pairings by Martha Stoumen Wines and honorary guest, food activist, and educator Aileen Suzara. Half of the proceedings from each ticket will be donated to La Cocina. “San Francisco has always been so inspiring, it takes advantage of the abundance of produce,” says Shapiro, who went to college on the West Coast.” I remember going to a farmers market in the city at the age of 17 and discovering what a peach should taste like.”
For the dinner series, Healthyish will partner with the omnipresent food delivery service Caviar, which will curate a list of ‘Healthyish approved’ restaurant for each hosting city and offer an exclusive recipe from Cala, created especially for the event.
Tickets are $15o and can be purchased here.
