SF Green Film Festival Announces Launch Party
Launched in 2011, the SF Green Film Festival is set to announce a new line of environmentally conscious films on May 7.
The festival, which will be taking place May 30 – June 5 this year, focuses on films that touch upon films dealing with contemporary or controversial environmental issues. While this year’s full lineup of 15 international films won’t be announced until May 7, a few highlights have been released including opening night film Rebels With a Cause from Bay Area filmmakers Nancy Kelly and Kenji Yamamoto. A film that will hit close to home, it chronicles the story of those who fought to save the Marin County coastline.
Other release highlights include the San Francisco premiere of Bidder 70, about jailed climate activist Tim DeChristopher. There will also be the SF premiere of Dear Governor Cuomo, which deals with the issue of fracking in New York. More Than Honey is slated to be this year’s centerpiece film which looks at honeybee colonies and their struggles to survive. Finally, this year’s winner of the World Cinema Grand Jury Prize at Sundance, A River Changes Course, will also be screening.
