SEE EVENT DETAILS
This year 99.7 NOW POPTOPIA features Tate McRae, Doja Cat, Black Eyed Peas, Tai Verdes, The Kid Laroi, Saweetie, and 24kgoldn

Tate Rosner McRae (/teIt m?'kreI/ born July 1, 2003) is a Canadian singer, songwriter, and dancer. At the age of thirteen, she gained prominence as the first Canadian finalist on the American reality TV show So You Think You Can Dance. McRae caught the attention of RCA Records in 2019 after her original song "One Day" (2017) went viral on YouTube, subsequently releasing her debut EP, All the Things I Never Said (2020). McRae soon gained wider recognition after her song "You Broke Me First" became an international hit. In 2020, McRae was the youngest musician featured on Forbes' 30 Under 30 list. - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tate_McRae

Doja Cat - If you've heard Doja Cat spit her game then you already know what kind of confidence and swagger she brings to her delightfully vulgar and wholly visionary combination of rap, R&B and pop. The Los Angeles star sounds on top of the world whether she's goofing on her viral novelty hit "Mooo!" (in which she pretends to be a cow) or laying down the law for would-be lovers on "Rules": "Said play with my p***y, but don't play with my emotions." All of that style and substance carries over to the stage, where Doja Cat gleefully works the crowd swathed in wigs and clothes that complement her loud and kaleidoscopically shifting vocals. Blessed with the rugged and raw mike skills of a veteran MC, and the high-flying mind of a pop auteur, Doja Cat throws shows that fans and newcomers alike aren't quick to forget.

Black Eyed Peas - While I was languishing on the couch the other morning, I got caught up in a distressingly poor B-movie based on the Street Fighter franchise, Taboo surprised me as the villain that battled Kristen Kreuk on a rooftop. It didn't make the movie any more bearable, but it did put it over the edge from pretty damn bad to enjoyably bad. Thankfully, he's in this little band called The Black-Eyed Peas, along with fellow would-be actors Fergie and Will.iam, and they put on legendary live shows made for big spaces like the Shark Tank. Here's some free career advice: if you've got a steady gig with one of the most successful bands of this decade and the last, and if your work in Street Fighter: Legend of Chun-Li is any indication of your acting ability, you probably should hold on to it. Adding to the firepower for this show is the addition of Ludacris to the bill as an opener; the Atlanta rapper just released his Battle of the Sexes album that features him squaring off with Lil Kim, Nicki Minaj, Eve and Trina. - Jody Amable

Tai Verdes was an essential worker with a 9-to-5 job at an LA Verizon Wireless store. Now he has one of the biggest viral hits in the US, hailed by The New York Times as one of the "Best Songs of 2020". After posting a series of TikTok videos, Tai's breakout single "Stuck In The Middle" took flight hitting #1 on Spotify's US viral chart (and 22 International Charts) and has since amassed more than 80 million streams and over 2.6 million TikTok creations, which have been viewed over 3billion times since the songs release in late May 2020. Tai's newestsingle"A-O-K"is on track to follow the same path, having notched more than 40 million views of the teaser and nearly 100,000 pre-saves before the feel good anthem's release earlier this month. The 25-year-old may have won the TikTok lottery, but he's playing the long game. And he's playing for keeps. "I'm gonna be a problem," says the 6'7 singer with a smile, who carries himself with as much charisma as stature. "I love everything that's happening. But this is not a one song thing, this is a 10-album thing."

It's not everyday you meet a 17-year-old with the confidence to set his sights on rap royalty and the audacity to actually attempt it. Factor in that he's from Australia, and The Kid LAROI's rapid ascent seems even more unlikely. But, after just one major label debut and millions of streams across platforms, the rapper born Charlton is proving that for an incoming generation filled with promising talent, yesterday's borders aren't today's barriers, and anyone can make it in America as a rapper.

Saweetie - The internet is a powerful tool, especially for promoting music. Case in point: Saweetie, whose incredible (and incredibly quick) rise in 2017 and '18 was the product of savvy online moves -- and some great music, of course.

Born Diamonté Harper in 1993, in Hayward, California, Saweetie began writing and playing music at age 14. After graduating high school, she attended San Diego State University, eventually transferring to the University of Southern California, where she studied communications and business. When she graduated, she decided to start a rap career.

She began by posting short raps on Instagram, gaining attention for her punchy lyrics and chill vibes. Leveling up, she took her music to SoundCloud in 2017 and released a video for her blowout single "Icy Girl," which got more than 63 million views on YouTube. She subsequently released her single "High Maintenance," which amassed hundreds of thousands of views.
