The 7th Annual Oakland Black-Eyed Pea Festival evokes the glory of Oakland's Seventh Street, once known as "The Harlem of the West." The festival is a celebration of TRADITIONAL African American music, food and art where musicians, chefs and artisans of African descent give homage to a humble yet rich past through sound, scent and sight. Come out and nibble on some Soul Food while the children enjoy arts and crafts with the sounds of Black music -- Zydeco, New Orleans-style Second Line Band, jazz vocals, gospel and a little funk -- in the background.
