The brainchild of East Bay-based multi-instrumentalist, Merril Garbus, tUnE-yArDs is an experimental folk outfit that balances a lo-fi, DIY approach to making music with skillful and creative manipulation of musical gadgetry. Alongside a revolving cast of collaborators including regular bass player Nate Brenner, Garbus combines live loops with voice, ukulele and drums to create a sound that incorporates elements of pop, freak folk and world music but remains in an uncategorizable genre of its own.
