3rd Friday: Design and Innovation

SEE EVENT DETAILS
at Santa Cruz Museum of Art and History (see times)
$5 General, $3 Students, Seniors and Kids, FREE for MAH Members and Children under 4

Bring your bright ideas to a buzzing think and making tank of eclectic innovation. Explore, test, design, and redesign projects with engineers, entrepreneurs, artists, and other out-of-the-box-thinkers.

Get lost in an interactive Nomadic Labyrinth by Bay Area Artist Paz de la Calzada. The Nomadic Labyrinth consists of large pieces of precisely cut carpet. Inspired in an Arabic floral pattern, the recycled carpets used in this design create an intricate and meditative environment that explores the integration of drawing and architecture. People are invited to walk, play, and meditate in this urban walkable path and experience art as a transformational tool.

Cabrillo College’s Engineering Department will host and array of activities using simple materials that will get your hands and brains thinking in new ways. Graphic designer Ted Holliday will lead a demonstration in graphic design, local artist Andrew Meave will offer a multisensory art and musical experience, and local designer and artist Jon Mawhorter will lead activities in play and game-making.

Check back in a few weeks to see what other activities will be at this electric event!

And don’t miss Kid Happy Hour will with art activities just for kids from 4-5PM in the classroom.
