Opening reception Sat, March 12, 7-10pm, exhibition March 9 to 26, 2016
Despite unprecedented scientific insight into the nature of the universe, most of the world's population continues to reside in shadows cast by myth. Guest curated by Gipe+Tell (Larry Gipe & Sarah Tell), "The Known Universe" showcases ten California artists whose works provide fertile ground for observation, production, and critical discourse on this centuries-old struggle between science and superstition.
Taking as their point of departure scientific disciplines from astronomy to zoology these artists attempt a quantifiable model of knowledge with a self-consciously ontological approach.
Featuring a live sound performance by Achromaticist.
