SANG MATIZ:
Sang Matiz has been performing a collection of original and cover songs for over 7 years, fusing energetic World and Afro-Brazilian/Peruvian beats with contemporary rhythms such as Pop, Jazz, and Funk. They've perfected a unique combination of styles that is best described as catchy, syncopated melodies with flamenco-styled finger picking. It sounds like the Gipsy Kings and Jamiroquai had a baby in South America! Sang Matiz takes you on a journey of cultural expression, an exciting fusion of sound full of passion, energy, and wild creativity.

Thanks to a grant awarded by The California ArtsCouncil Endowment for the Arts and The San Francisco Arts Commission Cultural Equity Grants, they have released the album "Ship It!," and is currently in production of their second album. In August 2015, they were chosen and honored to open for the legendary Cuban band Buena Vista Social Club Orchestra for their final “Adios Tour," followed by 2016 invitation to share a stage with the eclectic and distinguished LA-based band, Ozomatli. Throughout the years, they’ve also collaborated with various renowned Bay Area musicians such as: Mario Alberto Silva (Master Trumpeter), Miguelito Martinez (Master Flutist/Composer), and Grammy Award-winner Braulio Barrera (Pacific Mambo Orchestra), among many other national and global acts as Jorge Santana (Malo) and Pete Escovedo.

BOCA DO RIO:
Brazilian Space Funk

Originally hailing from the San Francisco Mission, Boca do Rio is a Brazilian-American samba-funk explosion. Born of the mixing of waters of Brazil and the San Francisco Bay, Boca do Rio has created musicá organicá – music that developed through the rhythm of living and working between the Americas. After a decade performing all original material during the heyday of San Francisco’s live music scene, Boca do Rio has evolved into a multi-layered electro-funk party boat with a sound that is fluid and edgy, adaptable and free.

Boca do Rio started flowing when Kevin Welch and Alex Calatayud formed a musical partnership in the late nineties that would redefine Brazilian music in the Bay Area. The electro-whiz kid, Jacob Aginsky, soon joined the group adding a mystical element. The musical collaboration was founded in deep respect for past traditions, steeped in the sambas and choros that echoed through the Brazilian favelas, while always evolving forward to create an organic sound that is decidedly modern and funky.
