The sweet aroma of freshly made cookie dough has filled Ross Alley in San Francisco’s Chinatown for 57 years, but this local business known for handmade fortune cookies may soon be joining the growing list of San Francisco businesses forced to pay up, relocate or shutter. The Golden Gate Fortune Cookies shop has been facing a jaw-dropping $4,350/month rent increase over the past 3 years, while over a period of 54 years the rent gradually increased by a mere $500/month.
