About the 2018 Bayview Artist Registry
The San Francisco Arts Commission (SFAC) invites artists and artist teams residing in the United States to submit qualifications for inclusion in the 2018 Bayview Artist Registry for upcoming public art opportunities in the Bayview neighborhood of San Francisco. Artists with a meaningful connection to the Bayview – whether they currently reside, have resided in the Bayview, or have another  significant connection to the Bayview - are encouraged to apply.
The 2018 Bayview Artist Registry will be used, along with other SFAC prequalified artist pools, to select artists to be commissioned  for a range of new public art projects associated with upcoming construction in the Bayview, including improvements to the Southeast Wastewater Treatment Plant, the construction of a new community center at 1550 Evans, the current Southeast Community Facility at 1800 Oakdale and the expansion of the Southeast Health Center. The Registry will be used for upcoming projects over the next 3 years.
The Arts Commission seeks visual artists working in a variety of media and artistic approaches to include in the 2018 Bayview Artist Registry. Artists whose practice includes direct engagement of the community in the design or making of the artwork are also encouraged to apply. Past public art experience is not required.
For artists who are interested in more information about applying to public art calls, the San Francisco Arts Commission will host two free workshops that will cover strategies for making a strong application and provide one-on-one technical support, with priority given to Bayview artists. More information below.
ARTWORK BUDGETSThe project budgets will vary depending on the opportunity:•    Up to $15,000 for purchase of existing 2-dimensional artworks•    Up to $200,000 for small-scale projects•    Up to $400,000 for medium-scale projects•    Up to $1,000,000 for large-scale permanent projects
The artwork budgets are inclusive of all artist's fees, as well as associated expenses for design, fabrication, insurance, transportation and installation.
