Hotel Shattuck is a historic boutique hotel originally built in 1910. The hotel still holds a lot of original architectural charm, however, it’s been revamped with new modern design details and amenities.

Located within the Hotel Shattuck, you can lounge and dine in style at FIVE Restaurant. From the curated wine list to the dinner entrees, to dessert, FIVE promises an elegant delight for all your five senses. FIVE focuses on American favorites at their finest, Californian cuisine, and local, sustainable, and organic ingredients. They also serve up a delicious craft cocktail.

BAMPFA, short for Berkeley Art Museum and Pacific Film Archive, is UC Berkeley’s visual arts center. Each year, BAMPFA presents more than twenty art exhibitions, 450 film programs, and dozens of performances. The museum is free on the first Thursday of each month. Currently on display is the colorful & melancholy Ugo Rondinone exhibit. The clown installation is a photo-worthy sight to be seen. Well, unless you have a heart-stopping fear of clowns, then definitely skip this room. There are plenty of engaging pieces within the permanent collection.

Part of the giveaway includes tickets to a Shotgun Players performance. This performing arts company is known for bringing together the Bay Area community, creating imaginative set designs, and quality acting—all on the intimate Ashby Stage, which is also the first 100% solar-powered live theater in the country.

Grab your favorite person and head over to Corso for a relaxing dinner. The menu features Tuscan classics, as well as modern takes on Italian cuisine, brought to you by chef Wendy Brucker. Her long list of awards and accolades are worth noting but the menu, complete with house-cured salumi, housemade pastas, and nightly butcher’s specials, speaks for itself.

This package also includes four tickets to catch the Oakland A’s in action. The tickets are good for a home game of your choice in August or September. Check the promotional calendar for special events and giveaways at the stadium.

Looking for even more BARTable destinations? Here are some of our favorite locations…all less than half a mile from BART.

On a warm night, Jupiter is the place to go for a casual night of pizza, wings and beers. Their back patio has a transformative and welcoming glow and the friendly atmosphere sets a vacation-esque mood. This locally owned biz has been going strong for over 25 years, both because of its loyal Berkeley following, as well as word of mouth.

2181 Shattuck Avenue, Closest BART Station: Downtown Berkeley

Eureka is a bustling restaurant with an upscale and modern ambiance to it. The menu sticks to traditional American classics and towering burgers are a favorite here. From 2-6pm, and 9pm-close happy hour is in full effect with both beer, cocktails and small bites on special. You really can’t go wrong with the truffle cheese fries or the crispy glazed Brussels sprouts.

2068 Center Street, Closest BART Station: Downtown Berkeley

A perfect morning date would be to swing by Sweet Adeline Bakeshop for an iced latte and a donut muffin or marble bread, then head over to Dry Garden Nursery. Sweet Adeline’s is a small bakery adorned with locally made artwork. Due to demand, and depending on the time of day, certain items might be out of stock. But lucky for you, pretty much everything is good, so you really can’t go wrong—even if you slept in.

3350 Adeline Street, Closest BART Station: Ashby

The Dry Garden Nursery is in walking distance from Sweet Adeline’s bakery. I was torn about sharing this gardening gem, since it’s technically not in Berkeley (but very close!) and I was also thinking—”Ssshh! More plants for me!” But I decided I should be gracious and share on this favorite. Dry Garden has been around since 1987 and is well-deserving of some shine. Browse through unusual succulents species and find a ridiculously affordable little guy to add to your collection.

6556 Shattuck Avenue, Closest BART Station: Ashby
