Bacon and craft beer lovers will not want to miss the 2017 San Mateo Bacon and Brew Fest on September 23, 2017 from 11 am to 7 pm at the San Mateo Events Center. This fifth annual event will feature specialty bacon-themed food items provided by a variety of local restaurants and food trucks, beer tastings from a select group of celebrated craft breweries, unique vendors, music, children’s entertainment and much more.
This celebrated event offers a full day of fun and food, for all ages. There will be over 20 food trucks and booths, all with some bacon-themed items on their menu. Yummy treats include “bacon-ade”, maple bacon mini donuts, bacon espresso, bacon corn in a cup, bacon cheddar waffles, chocolate covered bacon, bacon mac ‘n cheese, pork loin wrapped in bacon, and even sushi rolls with bacon. Some well-known local eateries will be there, like Fletch’s and Qube Bat and Grill. Specialty packaged-food vendors will also have delicious bacon items, such as fudge with maple bacon crumble, and cognac bacon popsicles.
Featured breweries will be Lagunitas, Deschutes, Founders and Gabrinus, pouring a range of 20 brews from ales and IPAs to stouts and porters. If beer is not your thing, Longboard Margarita bar will be serving hand-shaken Margaritas and a Bacon Bloody Mary. Wines will be available as well.
Live music will kick off at from 11 am to 1 pm with Kickback, a San Francisco-based act founded in the mid-1970s and best known for its high-energy and crowd-pleasing entertainment. Armed with slick choreography and tasty horn licks. Whether it’s Top 40, Latin, Funk, Rock, or Jazz, you’ll find yourself dancing and singing to their infectious sound.
Aja Vu and Stealin’ Chicago will take the stage from 2 pm to 4 pm. A faithful tribute to Steely Dan, Aja Vu captures the spirit of 70's, 80's and current Fagen and Becker gems as they were meant to be delivered. Aja Vu then transforms to Stealin' Chicago to re-create the sounds of Chicago the way it was recorded by Terry Kath, Robert Lamm and Peter Cetera and their different vocal styles. The unique sound incorporates a strong use of melodic horn lines and is the sound of Chicago.
From 5 pm to 7 pm is Journey Revisited, a group of professional musicians who are inspired by the music of Journey. This ensemble is dedicated to bringing the studio recordings of Journey to life on stage. What sets Journey Revisited apart is their drive to recreate Journey’s iconic studio recordings, and give the fans an opportunity to re-live those musical masterpieces.
A special Kids’ Zone will feature rides, a, rock-climbing wall, henna tattoos, face painting and more. Vendors at the 2017 San Mateo Bacon and Brew Festival will be offering a variety of arts, crafts, clothing, jewelry, games and more.
