Artist Jeremy Mann Hosts Book Release Tonight

San Francisco-based artist Jeremy Mann will be will be present tonight at John Pence Gallery from 6 to 8:30pm for the unveiling of his first hardcover book featuring copies of his full-size artwork.

Mann is perhaps best known for painting vivid urban settings on wooden panels where elements of light and darkness are expertly blended to create weathered cityscapes transformed by the illusion of rain, fog or sunshine.

His book, Mann Vol. 1, will highlight his work over the past seven years with over 384 pages of large, full-color paintings and only ten pages of text. It will also include samples of his object work, as well as his work painting figures, which explores the sensuality and mystique of the feminine form.

Mann is a graduate of the Academy of Art University in San Francisco, has exhibited his paintings worldwide and recently adorned the cover of American Art Collector magazine. His work is often characterized by traces of Gothic imagery, facilitated by his stylistic technique of using solvents on oil to create both glossy and grainy pieces.

His most recent painting series, “Solo Exhibition”, will be on display from July 9 to August 29 at the John Pence Gallery, which recently celebrated its 33rd year in downtown San Francisco and prides itself on showcasing significant works from the 19th and early 20th centuries.

Tonight’s opening reception will be the first opportunity to purchase and get a signed copy of the book at its $95 retail price. General sales worldwide will begin the following Monday, July 13th, through the artist portal www.827ink.com.
