Yoshi’s San Francisco to Become ‘The Addition’

Yoshi’s in San Francisco’s Fillmore District will become “The Addition” starting next month, according to an announcement this week.

The development team that took over management of the jazz venue and sushi restaurant in July will make the name change official on November 1. It will be accompanied by a new restaurant concept that will focus on locally sourced ingredients according to a report in the San Francisco Chronicle.

“There will be no more big plates on tiny tables, we are going to strip the menu down and offer a lounge atmosphere for the first couple of months, and the restaurant will get started in early 2015,” said new music director Peter Williams in the Chronicle report.

The management team promises a more diverse selection of bookings, but so far the concert calendar for the rest of the year is full of acts that wouldn’t be out of place under the Yoshi’s banner. Scheduled performs include jazz greats Roy Ayers and Poncho Sanchez, R&B vocalist Brian McKnight and 90s throwback Mint Condition.

More details to come.
