Block Party Brings Together Food and Music in SF

Over the last few years, the 20th Street corridor in San Francisco’s Mission District has become a food destination. What started as just flour + water has turned into three restaurants for the Ne Timeas Restaurant Group (Central Kitchen and Salumeria, along with flour + water), the popular bar Trick Dog and the second location for The American Grilled Cheese Kitchen among other businesses.

In fact, the area is doing so well, they are throwing a block party to celebrate. This year’s inaugural 20th Street Block Party is being put on by Noise Pop, in conjunction with the Ne Timeas Restaurant Group, The Bon Vivants and Nomic and will feature plenty of food, drinks and music.

In honor of the event, flour + water will be opening for lunch for the first time ever, with a special menu from Chef Thomas McNaughton focusing on Southern Italian ingredients/applications. The Ne Timeas Group will also be hosting a free food workshop tent, with hourly lessons, including a preservation workshop, pasta–making demo and farmers’ market utilization workshop. Other participating restaurants include: The American Grilled Cheese Kitchen, Asiento, Atlas Café, Blowfish Sushi, Coffee Bar, Rhea’s Deli, Slow Club and Trick Dog. Trick Dog will also be creating a “Dog House Booze Garden” for the festivities.

Several local restaurants and businesses in the area will also be offering specials for those who attend the event.

There will also be music and plenty of it. Among the acts scheduled to perform are Two Gallants, Mac DeMarco, Quinn DeVeaux and The Blue Beat Review, James & Evander and San Francisco Rock Project.

An after party is also taking place at Mission Dispatch (1975 Bryant Street) from 6-10pm, with drinks, music and food trucks.

The free Block Party is taking place from 12-6pm on 20th Street between Bryant and Harrison and Florida Street between 19th and 20th.
