Local Company Branded Worst In U.S.

The Consumerist, a non-profit subsidiary of Consumer Reports, has released the results of its reader poll and to the surprise of many, local entertainment software company Electronic Arts was named the “Worst Company in America” for 2012.

The Redwood City-based company “beat” out Bank of America, 64-36 percent to earn the title.

The Consumerist mentions EA “deliberately holding back game content with the sole intent of charging a fee at a later date” as just one of the reasons for the disdain. The website also said that unlike the music and movie industries, video game companies “have not added value to entice customers to buy their products” and they “nickel and dime” consumers to death.

The results of The Consumerist poll were based on more than 250,000 votes.
