Steep Brew, New Beer Bar, Opens
Soon there’ll be one more place in town to grab a beer, and it’s somewhere you wouldn’t quite expect.
The Whole Foods grocery store chain is known more for its emphasis on all-natural, organic and whole grain foods and products. And now they’re entering the bar business.
On Friday, March 30, Whole Foods Market Potrero Hill will be opening up Steep Brew, a new beer bar. They’ve already soft opened the space and the feedback was so positive they decided to move up the grand opening.
Along with some fancy pub-grub and flat-screen TVs for sports games, the bar will feature a wide selection of local coffees, offer 16 beers on tap as well as over 20 bottled beers. Featured tap beers include Ballast Point, Almanac Beer Co., Pacific Brewing Laboratory, Magnolia Brewery, Dying Vines and Anchor Brewing.
And they’re hosting a happy hour to celebrate with specials and giveaways and some yummy munchines.
It’ll be interesting to see who hangs out at this bar. Will it be local residents, Whole Foods staff after work, or moms taking a break from their weekly shopping runs? Whole Foods has a pretty good little cafe but I can’t imagine it being a destination bar in a city full of great places to grab a beer.
