Treasure Island: Not Just For Pirates
As a new resident in the Bay Area, whenever someone mentions Treasure Island I laugh. This must be a San Fran joke I’m not yet privy to. Treasure Island is a place for pirates, or at least where they go looking for gold. Or something. It’s been a long time since I saw the Disney adaptation.
But then I am reassured that in fact this small island exists and is floating out in the Bay under the bridge. And not only do fun and interesting things take place there, people actually live on Treasure Island. I still haven’t wrapped my head around this entirely.
Nevertheless, this weekend, and for several other weekends this fall, Treasure Island will play host to what should be an awesome flea market. The open-air site boasts local designers, entertainment and a great view back of the city. So strap on an eye patch, find your inner-urban-pirate and go hunt for some treasures.
Accessible via car and public transportation.
2011 Show Dates & Times:
9am – 4pm Saturday & Sunday
David,
it’s unfortunate you interpreted my post in that manner. No disrespect was intended, I’m thrilled to be here and I love the city.
Indeed you are a newbie to San Francisco because you call it “San Fran”. That’s like saying “New Yor” or “Los Ange” or “Bost”. To shorten the name is to disrespect our city.
As to the Treasure Island Flea, the promoters are trying to position it is a “high end” craft show, even though they call it a flea market. Plus, they charge $3 to see this small event. Parking is free, though.
