Late-Night Dining Gets a Boost

Choices for dining in the city around midnight are very limited or nearly impossible in some areas. Well, now after recent openings you have three more local places to satisfy your late night cravings.

Just two weeks old, Ayadi Pizza (377 Bay, open until 3am) is located on the northern edge section of North Beach, across the street from a Safeway. The kitchen features a brick wood oven for fast cooking, and properly blistered neapolitan pizzas. Chef-owner Mohamed Ayadi trained at Goodfellas Brick Oven Pizza School in Staten Island, NY. Ayadi claims his pizzas feature unique flavor combinations, including a dessert pizza topped with fruit, all made with organic ingredients.

Last week in the Mission area, Taqueria Vallarta (2022 Mission, open until 3am) took over a spot near the BART 16th street station. They’re famous for their $1.75 (previously $1.50) tacos al vapor (steamed tacos), prepared on a stand near the entrance. And to cater to the diverse needs of residents, the menu at this particular location also features seven different vegetarian burritos.

Also last week, King of Thai Noodle (Anchorage Square, open until 12:30am) aka. KOTN (pronounced “cotton”), opened a location right next to In-N-Out Burger, at Fisherman’s Wharf. This was the 10th opening for chef-owner Anthony Chaichana, but only the 9th location of his growing noodle soup empire, because he sold one store to competitor Chabaa Thai. I’m sure that the tourists are glad to get a better late night dining choice than nearby Denny’s and 7-Eleven.

All great news for those who like to party out late, work the late shift, and any night owls.
