Starbucks’ Trenta = The Big Gulp of Coffee

Starbuck’s recently announced its newest menu addition – the 31oz Trenta. That’s right, you read correctly, 31 ounces! By contrast, 7-Eleven’s Big Gulp is 32-ounces. Now that is a lot of caffeine. Perhaps they are trying to corner the Four Loko market?

The Trenta is only available for iced beverages and won’t be available nationwide until May 3rd. But, fear not, the new size will “debut in 14 states, including Virginia, Georgia, Florida, Texas, Hawaii and Arizona, on Jan. 18 and in California on Feb. 1”.

According to Reuters, the company stated that it developed the new size due to ‘customer demand for larger cold beverages”. Is this necessary? Do we really need to drink our coffee like it’s a Big Gulp? Who are these people?
