A16 Welcomes Back Familiar Face

A16, the Italian standby in the Marina/Cow Hollow, is welcoming back its first chef, Christophe Hille for two nights this week.

Inside Scoop SF reports that Hille will be joining current executive chef Liza Shaw on Tuesday and Wednesday night, “manning the pizza decks and resurrecting some old classics and joining forces on some new ones.”

Hille was the chef when A16 opened in 2004 and was soon thereafter named a Rising Star chef. He left in 2006 and is currently a partner in Northern Spy Food Co., a restaurant in New York City’s East Village.

His new venture opened last November and is a neighborhood restaurant focused on “seasonality, accessibility, and quality, whenever and wherever possible using locally-grown or -produced ingredients.”

One of his partners, chef Nathan Foot, is also a Bay Area transplant who was the chef de cuisine at the since shuttered Myth in San Francisco.

An interesting fact: in between his time at A16 and his new restaurant in New York, Hille served as a private chef for Annie Leibovitz in New York.
