2-Day Outdoor Landscape Photography Workshop with Joseph Roybal

SEE EVENT DETAILS
Join Denver-based adventure photographer Joseph Roybal (@josephroybalphotography) for this comprehensive 2-day workshop covering the end-to-end core components of outdoor landscape photography. This workshop is in-field and hands-on, so you'll be able to learn new techniques and immediately apply them, supported by the guidance of a deeply experienced photographer and educator.
Topics covered will range from field skills (composition, reading light, sunsets/sunrises, general landscape concepts & philosophies) to post-processing techniques that unlock your images to their full potential.
Your $150 workshop fee will include optional entry + 5 raffle tickets to a Photo & Climate event at the PD Flagship the night prior to the workshop.
Who is this for?

Beginner to intermediate photographers and adventure photo enthusiasts
Expect to do some short but potentially steep off-road hiking while carrying your gear

What should you bring?

Your camera, lenses, and tripod, packed in a bag that allows you to easily carry them around
Spare batteries and SD cards
Food is not included, but we'll be stopping for quick bites along the way. You can pack lunch/snacks/dinner, or bring money to buy food along the way, or both.
Water bottle
Dress for the weather, which in the Bay means layer up and bring a raincoat.

Planned Itinerary (may change slightly):
Friday, March 23 (optional)
Join Joseph for a lively chat about photography and climate advocacy at the Peak Design Flagship store between 6:30 and 8:30. Meet Joseph and the rest of your workshop crew, and enjoy free beer and wine. We'll be raffling off outdoor photo gear for charity, and your workshop fee includes 5 free raffle tickets.
Saturday, March 24
Meet at PD Flagship at 10:30am. Joseph will provide an overview of the workshop and discuss core landscape concepts. Break for lunch. Then drive to Half Moon Bay (we'll organize a carpool amongst workshop participants). Afternoon shooting will take place at Purisima Creek Redwoods Open Space Preserve. Return to Half Moon Bay for sunset shooting, then return back to the PD Flagship around 8pm.
Sunday, March 25
Meet at Vista Point at 6am (overlooking Golden Gate Bridge) for sunrise shooting. Will drive north towards Point Reyes Lighthouse, stopping along the way to shoot, keeping a loose itinerary so participants can adjust to the light and weather as necessary. Will aim for sunset shooting at Point Bonita Lighthouse. We'll grab a quick dinner back in SF and return to the PD Flagship where participants will work on post-processing techniques.
