In April of 1906 the Earth shook, and San Francisco went up in flames. In the midst of it all, the Mint stood strong. Come dance, drink, and discover the history of the stoic building that still holds true!


Presentations by:

-Mike Castleman, author of Smithsonian article “Grace Under Fire,” recounts how the Mint persevered throughout the days of destruction.

-Shawn Clover shares his fascinating photo series “Fade to 1906,” a collection of composite photographs that blend scenes from the Great Quake with images of today.

-The Chinese Historical Society of America tells the story of Chinatown and how the iconic neighborhood was nearly lost.

-See a preview of Erin Malley’s innovative and moving interpretive dance film, “Quake.”

Enjoy exhibits from the San Francisco Museum and Historical Society collection, SF72- The community hub for emergency preparedness, The Chinese Historical Society, artist Ken Andreys, and more!

Crack open a few oysters from Hog Island oysters and nibble on charcuterie from Beast and the Hare.
