The Compound Gallery and Compound Studios will celebrate 15 years as both a discerning venue and an inclusive working space for Bay Area artists during its April 16 Grand Opening and 15-Year Celebration at its new Hollis Street location in Emeryville. The open house and celebration will kick off at 12 noon with a ribbon-cutting ceremony featuring Emeryville Mayor John Bauters, followed by open invitations to participate in more than a dozen live demos by working Compound artists, including:
Drawing and painting
Block printing
Screenprinting and letterpress printing
Embroidery and sewing
Silk Dyeing
Stop-motion animation
Dry Point and Chine Collé Etchings
And much more!
Additionally, visitors will be encouraged to peruse the 14,000-square-foot studios, including a Ceramics Lab, Wood Shop, 3-D Printing Lab, Sewing Lab, Letterpress Facilities, Etching Press, Lounge, Art Research Library, and Print Shop. Next door, visitors can explore the new location for Compound Gallery, including featured artist exhibits, an "Arcade," retail shop featuring local artists, and so much more!
Visitors can win a chance at several prizes with a "passport raffle," interact with artists in their working spaces, and learn more about the community that makes Compound such an enduring, integral part of the Bay Area Art Community.
