local bands list
There's just something special about going to see a band perform live. There's energy crackling in the air, subtle nuances that no recording studio mic could ever pick up and a feeling of camaraderie with others in the crowd. The Bay Area is lucky to be both a hotbed that nurtures amazing local bands and a tour stop for nearly every band, big or small, from all over the world. Kick off a week of great music with Bloc Party at The Fillmore, this Brit post-wave quartet brings forth a fresh new sound that will have the place rockin'. Half-music, half-theater and all-spectacle, Faun Fables celebrates the release of their new CD at Café du Nord on Thursday night while another primo British band, White Lies, whose "synth-sprinkled tunes and heady lyrics have earned references to Joy Division and Echo and the Bunnymen", takes over 330 Ritch. For something completely different, there's the unequivocally unique Kronos Quartet bringing their world-renowned compositions to the YBCA. Equally experimental and engaging "Japanese cult favorite sludge/doom rock trio" Boris plays out at the Great American Music Hall. And, get ready, because next Monday Nebraska's very own The Faint plays at the Fillmore. EVENT TITLE
