Lia Rose
San Francisco's Lia Rose writes songs that are poetic, intensely honest, and at times unmistakably autobiographical. She has been called "one of the brightest lights of the local music scene" [ShutupSongwriters]. Her voice seems to reach right inside of people and has been praised as “captivating and beautiful” by Tape Op Magazine. She has been celebrated for her live in-studio performances by Live105's Aaron Axelsen / NPR's West Coast Live / KPFA's The Hear & Now. Live 105's Miles The DJ admits, "for years, one of my most favorite SF artists has been Lia Rose."

After performing in indie bands for nearly a decade (Or, The Whale / Built for the Sea / Minipop), Rose has launched as a solo artist, having released her sophomore solo album 'Bricks & Bones' in July. She is proving to be San Francisco's promising new Americana Indie Songstress.

"...lively, acoustic-heavy twang and stomp, and spitting lyrics"
-- The San Francisco Bay Guardian

"...an Americana vibe with a dash of twang..."
-- The San Francisco Chronicle

"Calling it now: We Became Owls will be the next great Bay Area folk outfit. Singer-songwriter Andrew Blair makes believers quickly with his soulful howl, set over a collection of strings and soft percussion. It’s a classic but entirely fresh Americana sound, the latest offshoot of the folk tradition set forth by Woodie Guthrie and Bob Dylan ages ago. You can hear the history and the authenticity at every turn, but we’ll let you listen for yourself”

-Chris Trenchard 7×7 Magazine

“With a ghost town country-western vibe, We Became Owls invites you to remember the deafeningly quiet moments. Presented with notes that resemble lonely, late-night revelations & peaks of starry-eyed hopefully climbing, this is a band that can & will make all of time stand still.”
