Now Playing: Sister Cities Cinema, After Tiller, and SF Art & Film for Teenagers Fest

Occasionally we double back to art house films when everything Hollywood’s offering pretty much sucks. This is one of those weeks. If you want to watch Carrie, rent the one with Sissy Spacek — now that’s a freaky classic. What’s good? If you haven’t seen them, Gravity and Captain Phillips are recommended. But for new releases, try the Sister Cities Cinema at New People Cinema featuring old and new movies from and about Zurich & SF. After Tiller takes a look at the experiences of women who seek late abortions and their reasons why. The SF Art & Film for Teenagers Fest features works by student movie makers — a mix of funny, weird, cheesy and gay. Special shout-outs to one night only features: Yerba Buena Center’s screening of Phil Solomon: American Falls (Oct 19) — an menagerie of evocative imagery — and Not A White Wash at the Roxie (Oct 23) — short films & music.

Movies Opening This Week: Oct 18th – Oct 24th
