Hangover Cure – Eating Options on New Year’s Day

Despite that exploding head and hangover, we survived another New Year’s celebration. But the question – what to eat the morning (or early afternoon) after?

Here are a few options to cure those hangover blues:

Americano – The restaurant is offering a special New Year’s Day Brunch Buffet for $40 with items ranging from Danishes and other assorted pastries to normal brunch fare (scrambled eggs, apple chicken sausage, bacon, spicy pork belly hash and an assortment of house-made pizzas). Americano is located in the Hotel Vitale at Eight Mission Street in San Francisco.

Bluestem Brasserie – The restaurant is offering a “pancake brunch.” Guests can choose one pancake flavor (buttermilk, chocolate hazelnut, meyer lemon & poppy seed, apple maple) and they will get all four plus two eggs, two bacon strips and breakfast sausage for $19. Add the bottomless Mimosa option for $10. Bluestem Brasserie is located at One Yerba Buena Lane in San Francisco.

Brasserie S&P – The restaurant and lounge is starting the New Year with a new Gin Hangover Cure Brunch with a full food menu of classic brunch items. In addition, guests can enjoy a bottomless Champagne cocktail bar for $25 or build their own Gin & Tonic for $8 each. There will also be twists on classics featured on the cocktail menu. Brasserie S&P is located in the Mandarin Oriental at 222 Sansome Street in San Francisco.

Copita – Celebrating the New Year, Copita Tequileria y Comida will be hosting a “Hangover Brunch” featuring traditional Mexican dishes and libations, including Chilaquiles Divorciados, Enfrijoladas and 24-Hour Carnitas Torta. Drinks include Micheladas, Mexican Beer Bloody Mary or Bloody Sangrias. Copita is located at 739 Bridgeway in Sausalito.

Foreign Cinema – Already known as a brunch favorite in San Francisco, Foreign Cinema will also be hosting its own “Hangover Brunch” with items including Hangover Soup with a poached farm egg, Croque Madame, Llano Seco Braised Pork with fried eggs and cocktails like a Hemingway Daiquiri and Sunday Bloody Caesar. Foreign Cinema is located at 2534 Mission Street in San Francisco.

Maverick – Maverick is hosting a brunch on New Year’s Day with a menu featuring classic cocktails (Mimosa, Peppered Strawberry Mimosa, Bloody Maverick) along with different sandwiches, a Lobster Bread Pudding Benedict, Duck Confit Hash and House-Cured Salmon. Maverick is located at 3316 17th Street in San Francisco.

Rice Paper ScissorsRice Paper Scissors is popping up at Whiz Burgers for a New Year’s Day brunch. Appetizers include a Pâté Chaud and Salt-and-Pepper Tofu; mains are a Breakfast Banh Mi and Hanoi-Style Beef Pho. Whiz Burgers is located at 700 South Van Ness Street in San Francisco.

Rock Bar/Front Porch – The Front Porch is hosting am “Afternoon Fry Party” with an All-You-Can-Eat buffet, with items including Fried Chicken, Corn Dogs, Hush Puppies and Fried Macaroni and Cheese. And to satisfy your drinking needs, guests can bring that food and enjoy it at Rock Bar across the street, along with New Year’s Day cocktails like the Dirty Metamorphic (Tito’s Vodka, Olive, Fresno Chile) or the original hangover cure, the Corpse Reviver #2. Front Porch is located at 65a 29th Street and Rock Bar is right across the street at 80 29th Street in San Francisco.

Wise Sons Deli – Offering a special menu for New Year’s, Wise Sons Deli will be offering guests items such as Matzo Ball Soup, Latke Benedict, an Old School Deli Hash, Chicken Shnitzel and several sandwich options as well. Wise Sons Deli is located at 3150 24th Street in San Francisco.
