Some Enticing Upcoming Food Events

Burgers, benefits and truffles – just some of the Bay Area offerings coming up for food lovers.

Friday, December 7 – Starting on Friday, December 7, Tom Pizzica of Big Chef Tom’s Belly Burgers will be holding a late-night burger pop-up at Beast and The Hare in the Mission District. Chef Tom will be slinging his 100-percent ground pork belly burgers from a side window at the restaurant from 11:00 p.m. until 3:00 a.m. The burgers were a big hit this summer at Outside Lands. Beast and The Hare is located at 1001 Guerrero Street.

Monday, December 10 – It’s a burger party at Bar Tartine on Monday with former chef Chris Kronner making his infamous burgers all day along with shakes from Bar Tartine’s Cortney Burns. Food will be served up from 11:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m. The event is also a fundraiser for the Conducive Education Center of San Francisco, which runs a 6-week summer camp program for children with disabilities due to cerebral palsy, spina bifida and other neuro-motor delays. There will be a raffle with tons of amazing prizes at restaurants and stores throughout the Bay Area. Raffle tickets can be purchased online or at Bar Tartine and guests don’t have to be present to win. Bar Tartine is located at 561 Valencia Street in San Francisco.

Monday, December 10 – The Berlinetta Lounge at the Mystic Hotel is hosting a charity fundraiser and chili cook-off in conjunction with San Francisco 49er Larry Grant. Former San Francisco Giant Rich Aurilia, Bachelor contestant Ben Flajnik and founder of Kosta Browne Winery Dan Kosta will be guest chefs competing for the title of “Best Chili Chef.” Judges include chefs Charlie Palmer and Michael Mina with a portion of the proceeds benefiting A Better Hand Foundation. Tickets are $150 per person. Mystic Hotel is located at 417 Stockton Street in San Francisco.

Monday, December 10 – Famed Brooklyn restaurant Governor is coming all the way across the country, working with Kitchit on a fundraising dinner after being ravaged by Hurricane Sandy. Chef Bradford McDonald, who previously spent time at Noma and Per Se, will be offering up a seven-course tasting menu at a secret location in the Mission District. And an added bonus: SF Station readers interested in purchasing tickets will get 20-percent off by using code SFSTATION at checkout. Cocktails begin at 7:00 p.m. with the first course served at 8:00. Now-December 15 – CHAYA Brasserie is offering diners an array of dishes for its inaugural “Winter Truffle Affair.” Dishes include Uni and Truffle Risotto, Cauliflower Soup with Grilled Truffle Cheese Sandwich and Truffle Honey Glazed Duck Breast. The dishes will be offered through Saturday, December 15. CHAYA Brasserie is located at 132 The Embarcadero.
