In honor of the annual November day of the day tradition, SOMArts Cultural Center will be holding a number of events dedicated to giving Bay Area visitors and  students a chance to experience firsthand an important cultural celebration for many communities around the world.

For the exhibition, over 80 artists have helped to construct a variety of traditional altars that pay homage to departed love ones along with related art installations dealing with death, life and spirituality.

Other events scheduled as part of Calling on the Spirits to Face the Future: Día de los Muertos 2012 include a concert by chamber music group The Bernal Hill Players and a multimedia performance showcase that celebrates the themes of the holiday.

For more information and tickets to the events, see the SOMArts Cultural Center event page.
