E&O Trading Co. Closing for Renovations

If you’re a fan of E&O Trading Company’s Asian-fusion cuisine and sweet cocktails then you better get there quick! This is your last weekend to enjoy your favorite dishes as the restaurant will be closing for a month-long renovation.

And it’s going to be a pricey makeover…coming in at a $1,000,000. The renovation seems to be focusing on creating a new bar and lounge space that will lure in a younger, hipper clientele. Located in Union Square, E&O is more a destination for tourists, office birthday celebrations and business meetings so I don’t quite see the restaurant transforming into a nightlife hotspot.

“What made us successful before will stay. Guests will see their menu favorites, but we will be expanding our offerings to add new and exciting dishes. With the renovation, we aim to create a buzzing scene with a new lounge and bar program with late night bites and creative cocktails,” says Consulting Chef Arnold Eric Wong.

To head the new bar program, E&O has apparently brought on “mixologist” Carlos Yturria who used to tend bar at Absinthe. However, several months ago Eater reported that Yturria had joined Prizefighter in Emeryville as full-time staff.

Withstanding any delays, E&O will reopen on May 18th with a new look and a new name: E&O Asian Kitchen.
