Dam Funk made his Oakland debut at The New Parish last night and took the the crowd to “funk school.”
What started with what Dam called a “family” gathering quickly jumped off into a full-on funk dance party. Backed by Master Blazter (J-1 on funky drums and Computer Jay on synth and crazy gadgets), he ripped through a live set full of West Coast funk beats and got the crowd hyped up with an extended keytar solo in the middle of the venue.
He took a break about halfway through the set to help the fellas out with the ladies:
