Literary Arts: Live Nude, $1 Book Sale, Rad Dad

This week, the Literary Arts scene takes you from Sheila McClear’s exotic dance memoir to three local, hip dads giving modern fatherly advice. It’s time to get your read on.

Tonight, join exotic dancer turned New York Post writer, Sheila McClear, as she reads from her memoir, The Last of the Live Nude Girls. McClear takes the stage at The Booksmith, tonight at 7:30pm, but save those dollar bills for the Library Steps Sale. This Wednesday (and every Wednesday through October 26), the SF Public Library in Civic Center is hosting a sidewalk sale from 11am – 3pm, with all books and media priced at $1.

On Thursday, head back to The Booksmith, at 7:30pm, for a little 2011-style Fatherhood 101, with Bay Area dads Jeremy Adam Smith, Tomas Moniz and Shawn Taylor. The best of their zine and blog posts are compiled in their new book, Rad Dad: Dispatches from the Frontiers of Fatherhood — a must read for every modern dad.
