In a rather innocuous Twitter response, Tyler Florence “sort of” announced this past weekend that his next project will be a restaurant at the Hotel Rex in San Francisco. 

I had actually heard about this “possible partnership” back in late February, but had been unable to confirm anything from either party. It will be Florence’s fourth in his burgeoning “empire” in the Bay Area. Within the past year, he has also opened Wayfare Tavern in San Francisco, Rotisserie and Wine in Napa and El Paseo in Mill Valley.

Officials with the Hotel Rex said they could not comment on the possibility of a new restaurant (although they did say they would send a press release if it does happen) and I have not been able to confirm the news with Florence himself, other than through his tweet.   But again, a source very close to the situation tells me that this is indeed a done deal.  Opening and possible restaurant plans are still undetermined but I’m sure details will follow soon enough.
