All that Glitters is Goldenboy

With weather this warm, Groundhog Day doesn’t matter much this year.  So here’s something else to populate that February 2 slot:  Head to Dolores Park Cafe for a set from LA-based quintet Goldenboy, fronted by former Elliott Smith member and Bright Eyes touring musician Shon Sullivan.

The band’s latest effort, Sleepwalker, lives comfortably in the indie pop/rock territory mined by acts like Belle & Sebastian, Nada Surf, Earlimart and The Smiths.  The album’s 11-song trajectory moves from sunny, 60s-influenced ditties (“She Belongs To Me,”‘ “Chelsea Girl”) to contemplative indie rock (“Anna Said,” “I Like You Because”) and lands on a slower, somber note — much like the end of a long day (“Spark,” “Sleepwalker”).

Check out a sample track below, and pick up a copy of Sleepwalker on February 8.
