ZYZZYVA Turns 40! A Literary Celebration

SEE EVENT DETAILS
Join Mechanics' Institute, 7Social, and ZYZZYVA in saying Happy Birthday! to one of the Bay Area's beloved literary journals. This celebration will feature tributes, inspirations and acknowledgements from past ZYZZYVA greats, followed by festivities. Featuring Lauren Markham, Daniel Handler, Ingrid Rojas Contreras, and more! Part of the Litquake Festival 2025.

This event will be held at 7Social at 65 Post Street (next door to Mechanics' Institute.) RSVP is not required, but recommended. Entrance will be first come, first served.

ZYZZYVA was founded in 1985 in San Francisco with the goal of publishing a superb literary journal shining a spotlight on West Coast poets, writers, and artists from a wide range of backgrounds, many of whom were otherwise overlooked by established publications, and providing them with a much needed platform. Since then, the organization has evolved: the journal is now a nationally distributed, widely acclaimed publication showcasing contributors from across the country and around the world, and ZYZZYVA's impact extends far beyond the printed page.
