“Hella Poetry”
A Benefit for Brave New Voices International Youth Poetry Slam Festival
San Francisco’s Sydney Goldstein Theater

The work of Brave New Voices International Youth Poetry Slam Festival is to center the voice of young people while creating a national movement of Spoken Word based programs that represent changing demographics of our country, youth development, literacy and a cutting edge approach to arts education. With the support of Youth Speaks, Brave New Voices creates opportunities to build stronger local infrastructures and hosts hundreds of young poets and their mentors from across the country and the world.

The festival, which has graced cities such as Baltimore, Washington DC, New York, Philadelphia and more will be hosted by Las Vegas in July 2019, welcoming over 500 youth from more than 50 parts of the country for high-profile arts education and the most compelling youth slam poetry.

With recognition as a vital launching pad for young artists, The Brave New Voices Festival has been home to the career beginnings of literary heavy hitters like Danez Smith, Daveed Diggs, Rafael Casal, Chinaka Hodge, and more and has earned major support over the years from The MacArthur Foundation, the National Endowment for the Arts, the Mellon Foundation, The Ford Foundation, The William & Flora Hewlett Foundation, The James Irvine Foundation, and more.

On Monday, May 6th, supporters, friends, family, fans, community partners, and more are invited to show their support for the work of Youth Speaks and Brave New Voices International Youth Poetry Slam Festival at San Francisco’s Sydney Goldstein Theater. This event is all ages and wheelchair accessible.
