Y-Exchange is a monthly series of presentations about performing arts, technology and science and how they intersect and inform each other, in which selected artists and scientists are invited to talk about their life and work. This month, Y-Exchange is proud to present Interdisciplinary Artist Leah Dyjak and Psychiatrist & Writer Doris Iarovici. This event is open to the public and admission is free.Leah Dyjak is an interdisciplinary, lens-based artist splitting her time between Massachusetts and elsewhere. She received her MFA from the University of Texas at Austin. Her site-specific work combines performance, labor, film, and photography to explore how generations of human use affect the ecologies of place. Her images and installations push the edges of the photographic frame and play with our perceptions of perceived boundaries. Leah is an Assistant Professor of Photography at Wheaton College in Massachusetts and summer faculty at the Anderson Ranch. Her work has been shown at, Pump Project and Blue Star Contemporary in Texas, The Front Gallery in New Orleans and throughout the Northeast. She is represented by the Schoolhouse Gallery in Provincetown. https://www.leahdyjak.com/Doris Iarovici is a writer and psychiatrist who was born in Romania and immigrated as a child to New York. Her fiction collection, “American Dreaming and Other Stories,” won the Novello Literary Award and other publishing honors. She’s been a Fellow at Djerassi, Virginia Center for the Creative Arts, Hambidge, and  Vermont Studio Center. She recently completed a novel. Her non-fiction book, “Mental Health Issues and the University Student” was published by Johns Hopkins University Press. Her New York Times essays include a Modern Love column, also produced as a podcast. She’s also published in The Guardian, O! The Oprah Magazine, and elsewhere. She works part-time as a psychiatrist at Harvard University, and is at work on a memoir. http://www.dorisiarovici.com/
