Writing the Flood: A monthly writing group

SEE EVENT DETAILS
Writing the Flood: A monthly writing workshop open to all
Next Flood Write meets Saturday, February 16, 1-4:30pm
Limited to 10. Fee is $75 (with a sliding scale)

Open the gates and let your writing voice flow

Writing The Flood is a writing group for anyone looking to prime the writing pump: using the Amherst Writers and Artists method, we will write together in response to exercises designed to get those pens moving, and get onto the page the stories, poems, essays, images and voices that have been stuck inside for too long. This is a time to work on a larger project, get started on new work, play on the page, or write yourself through a block and back into your writing voice.

No previous writing experience necessary! All workshops facilitated by Jen Cross and meet in private, comfortable, and accessible workshop space in Oakland, near 12th BART station. Visit our contact page to register.

Your facilitator Jen Cross founded Writing Ourselves Whole in 2003. She facilitates sexuality and sexual trauma survivors writing workshops in Oakland, CA, and across the country. Jen holds an MA in Transformative Language Arts, and is completing her MFA in Creative Writing at SF State. She is the author of Writing Ourselves Whole: Using the Power of Your Own Creativity to Recover and Heal from Sexual Trauma (Mango, 2017). Her fiction and creative nonfiction have been widely anthologized.

Writing Ourselves Whole believes in the power of transformative writing practice in community to restory individual trauma experience and restore those parts of ourselves we are trained to hide. We believe in the power of story, the joy of writing, and the depth of human creative resilience. Writing Ourselves Whole is a fiscally-sponsored project of Intersection for the Arts.
