San Francisco's longest running spoken word series continues. This is going to be a powerful, crazy night of literature, poetry, science fiction, fantasy and storytelling. Featuring some of our favorite writers and performers of all time.

When: Saturday, April 8 from 7:30 PM to 9:30 PM
Who: Hari Kunzru, Kate Erickson, Siel Ju, Shelley Wong, Eileen Gunn and Ilana C. Myer!
How much: $5 to $20, all proceeds benefit the Center for Sex and Culture

About the readers/performers:

Hari Kunzru is the author of four previous novels. His work has been translated into twenty-one languages, and his short stories and journalism have appeared in many publications, including The New York Times, The Guardian, and The New Yorker. He is the recipient of fellowships from the Guggenheim Foundation, The New York Public Library, and the American Academy in Berlin. He lives in Brooklyn.

Kentucky native Kate Erickson is based in Los Angeles, where she has written for AMC's Fear the Walking Dead, TNT's Snowpiercer, and USA Network's Mr. Robot, for which she received a Writers Guild Award. She has also written for BBC America’s Copper. Erickson’s essays have appeared in various publications including Wellesley Magazine — magazine of her alma mater, Wellesley College — and the New York Press. She can be found on Medium at @ericksonkate and elsewhere at @katefromky.

Eileen Gunn's latest book is Questionable Practices, a story collection. She also published another collection, Stable Strategies and Others. Her fiction has appeared at Tor.com, Flurb.net, Eclipse One, Wired, Asimov's Magazine and elsewhere. She published the Infinite Matrix science fiction webzine. Her story "Coming to Terms" won a Nebula Award in 2004.

Siel Ju is the author of the novel-in-stories, Cake Time, winner of the 2015 Red Hen Press Fiction Manuscript Award. She is also the author of two poetry chapbooks. Her stories and poems appear in ZYZZYVA, The Missouri Review (Poem of the Week), The Los Angeles Review, Denver Quarterly, and other places. She gives away a book every month at sielju.com.

Shelley Wong is the author of RARE BIRDS, a winner of the 2016 Diode Editions chapbook award. Her poems have appeared in Crazyhorse, Fairy Tale Review, The Normal School, Sixth Finch, Southern Humanities Review, Vinyl, and elsewhere. A Kundiman fellow and a Pushcart Prize recipient, she has received scholarships from Fine Arts Work Center and Napa Valley Writers’ Conference.

Ilana C. Myer has written about books for the Globe and Mail, the Huffington Post, the Los Angeles Review of Books, and Salon. Her debut epic fantasy, Last Song Before Night, was released by Tor Books in 2015. The sequel, Fire Dance, is forthcoming in 2018.

The spoken word "variety show" mixes genres to raise money for local causes.
