Tech in Motion Silicon Valley is proud to hold its first Panel event!! In celebration of Women's History Month, 2014, we are proud to host an in depth panel discussion with highly notable women in the Silicon Valley Tech community as we dive into today's topics surrounding women in technology. We are thrilled to be hosting this insightful event at the beautiful Art Institute of California – Silicon Valley.
The Art of Institute offers AS & BS degrees in Web Development, Graphic Design, Media Arts & Animation, and Gaming! The Culinary Art Institute Students will be showing off their exquisite culinary talents for this event by generously providing food for our attendees.
Panelists for the evening include:
Kimber Lockhart, Director of Engineering at Box
Kimber leads the web and core engineering teams. Previously, she co-founded Increo, a web-based service that allows users to share and review documents in a secure space. Increo was acquired by Box in 2009. In her free time, Kimber enjoys training on the aerial rope and flying trapeze. She holds a B.S. in Computer Science from Stanford University.
Sophia Perl, Director of Product Management for Mobile Ads at Yahoo!
Sophia focuses on mobile search monetization. Previously, she has held various engineering and product management roles at eBay and IBM in areas of e-commerce identity and databases. In her spare time, Sophia dabbles in web / iOS programming and blogs about tech topics. She holds a BS in Computer Science from University of Southern California and an MBA from UC Davis.
Lisa Falzone, CEO and co-founder of Revel Systems
Revel Systems is the award-winning leader in iPad point-of-sale (POS) systems for restaurant, retail and grocery. Since starting the company from the ground up in 2010, Lisa has been an entrepreneur in the truest sense of the word. She leads the day-to-day business operations and spearheads new business growth, and has also been instrumental in securing more than $13M in venture capital funding to date and assisting in international expansion of the San Francisco-based startup. Lisa has been recognized as Forbes ’30 Under 30’ as well as San Francisco Business Times ’40 Under 40’ and ‘Most Influential Women in Bay Area Business.’ She holds a BA in History from Stanford University.
Marissa Louie, Principal Designer at Yahoo!
Marissa is a self-taught designer whose designs have been experienced by over 1 billion people. As a Principal Designer at Yahoo, she has led design efforts for Stream, Social, Growth, and a new product in Search. Previously, Marissa was an iOS Art Director at Apple Inc. and a Product Designer at Ness Computing (acquired by OpenTable). Marissa founded the Online Education Collective, which creates standards for excellence in online education classes, and aims to educate those with little or no access to education in a physical classroom. She holds a BA in Interdisciplinary Studies (Industrial Engineering, Economics, Business) from UC Berkeley.

6:30pm – 8:00pm: Panel of speakers chatting on aspiration, perseverance, market insight, and advice.
8:00pm-9:00pm: More networking and more finger foods by the culinary students of the Art Institute.
