Wine Country Big Q Barbecue and Festival 2017

Join us at the 7th annual Wine Country Big Q Kansas City Barbecue Society (KCBS) nationally sanctioned competition and Festival at the Sonoma-Marin Fairgrounds in Petaluma, California.  Everyone loves barbecue and some of the best Pit Masters will be here to serve you up a slice. Sample great “authentic” barbecued meats, world class wines, award-winning brews and refreshing ciders while enjoying great music. Bring all of your senses to life as you wander amongst the teams to see, smell and taste mouthwatering barbecue.
We have added our own Wine Country twist to the KCBS competition – the “Big Beef Challenge”. See who is King of the Grill as winery, brewery and vineyard chefs go fork to fork competing for the coveted People’s Choice award for the best tri tip and the wines and beers that best complement.
The “Bold Bean Challenge” where teams show off their skills on the grill preparing the perfect side dish to accompany great barbecue. Plus Bakin' for Bacon Dessert Competition and more!
Wine Country Big Q is sure to satisfy anyone’s appetite for great barbecue, world class wine and beer, live entertainment with some fired up friendly competition.
Tickets include entry into festival, over a pound of barbecue (beans, bacon dessert and more), beverage sampling (beer, wine cider), logo tasting glass, live entertainment from Paulie's Garage and Gator Nation, and more. Children's ticket includes 4 food tickets, non-alcoholic beverage and entertainment. That's over 1/2 a pound of mouthwatering bbq, beans and bacon dessert!
Join us in The Bull Pen for a VIP Experience! Each ticket to The Bull Pen includes access to The Bull Pen VIP tent, over a pound of barbecue (beans, bacon dessert and more), beverage sampling (beer, wine cider), logo tasting glass, live entertainment, and spirits tasting in The Bull Pen. 
We've also got a Kids' Area with jump houses and other entertainment for the little ones, plus educational seminars throughout the day.

Making Good Whiskey is not unlike making Good Barbecue… register for this seminar that includes early entry into the Wine Country Big Q and access to The Bull Pen and additional spirits sampling opportunities.
Meet distiller Crispin Cain who will present a seminar about distillation of Low Gap Rye Whiskey. Crispin will talk about the whole process from choosing ingredients, to the fermentation, distillation and ageing of rye whiskey. He will present a tasting of his Rye Whiskey at various stages of ageing from his reknowned Low Gap Clear Rye (unaged), Low Gap 2 Year Rye, and a barrel sample of Low Gap Rye at 5 years finished in a used Cognac barrel, and Low Gap Rye finished in a Premier Grand Cru Sauterne barrel, as well as Low Gap Rye finished in used Port barrels. Crispin will discuss his use of American and French barrels, cellar conditions, tasting and blending of rye whiskies.
Classically trained in the production of brandy using the centuries old Charentais Method of distillation from Cognac,Crispin will reflect on his use of traditional methods, while producing new and innovative whiskies." 
This ticket includes a seat at the seminar at 12 noon, a pound of barbecue samples plus entry into The Bull Pen (which includes addiitonal spirits sampling).

PUBLIC TASTING IS ON SATURDAY, JULY 8TH! Barbeque Teams arrive on Friday, but there is NO Public Tasting on July 7th.
Please Note: Not all Barbecue teams participate in the public sampling. Teams may sample-out depending on demand. Sampling begins at 1 pm and we suggest you begin your day as close to that time as possible. Guests who arrive late may have fewer opportunities to sample a wide variety of barbecue.
