'Wilder Than Wild' | Movie Screening

SEE EVENT DETAILS
"We are experiencing now the fires of the future." ~Ken Pimlott, Former Chief, California Department of Fire and Forestry (Cal Fire)

Join us for a screening of the award-winning documentary "Wilder than Wild: Fire, Forests, and the Future" by Kevin White and Stephen Most.

"Wilder than Wild" reveals how fire suppression and climate change have exposed our forests and wildland-urban landscapes to large, high severity wildfires, while greenhouse gases released from these fires contribute to global warming. In this one-hour documentary, filmmaker Kevin White takes us on a journey from the Rim Fire of 2013 to the wine country wildfires of 2017. Along the way, we learn how the proactive use of prescribed fire can reduce reliance on reactive fire suppression; we see a California tribe renew their tradition of cultural fire; and we meet stakeholder groups working with scientists and resource managers to build consensus on how to restore and manage the lands we love and depend on.

Stephen Most is a writer, filmmaker and playwright. He is the author of several books and writer and producer of movies, with writing credits on four Academy Award-nominated documentaries and five Emmy winners. Kevin White is an Emmy Award-winning producer, director and writer who has worked in media since 1982. He has produced and directed dozens of films and received multiple awards. The two have collaborated on multiple projects.

Pimlott has said of the movie, "An absolutely wonderful production, the messages in this film are spot-on!"

"Beautifully put together, educational, intelligent, moving, clear and very powerful (not to mention timely). It is one of best, most effective documentaries we've seen." ~Alex Reisman, Attorney

"An outstanding documentary that is timely and one of the best we screened." ~Berkeley Video & Film Festival
