Join us for a fun half day citizen science BioBlitz on the Wildcat Marsh Loop Trail in Richmond, CA. Get ready to enjoy being a citizen scientist through simple observation and photo documentation.
A BioBlitz is an event that focuses on finding and identifying as many species as possible in a specific area over a short period of time. This event is part of our project to BioBlitz the Wildcat Creek watershed from its headwaters at Lake Anza down to its end point at the Wildcat Marsh and Landfill Loop in Richmond from summer 2017 to Spring 2018. Bring your camera, sunblock, water to stay hydrated, snacks, your kids, and water shoes for doing some water quality monitoring along Wildcat Creek.
We'll be uploading photos to iNaturalist.org (aka iNat). Feel free to familiarize yourself beforehand. We will also do a short orientation to iNat in the first 15 minutes on BioBlitz day. After the hike, we'll gather at noon at a nearby coffee shop to compare shots and have an iNat load-your-photos party. Our observations will be added to the iNat project "Wildcat Creek Watershed"
