Shoppers and Volunteers
The White Elephant Sale, organized and presented by the Oakland Museum Women's Board, is the biggest annual fundraising event benefiting the Oakland Museum of California (OMCA). Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Sale annually raised over $2 Million over six consecutive years to support OMCA's programming and exhibitions. In 2021, due to the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Sale took place entirely online for the first time in its history. For 2022, organizers will once again provide the Sale's cherished in-person shopping experience, while ensuring the safety and comfort of shoppers with new guidelines and protocols in place. In response to the ongoing pandemic, the Oakland Museum Women's Board tailored this year's Sale to comply with current safety protocols.
Over the five week period, a range of quality used goods, including furniture, artwork, household items, ceramics, sporting goods, fine jewelry, collectibles, music, books, and vintage and contemporary apparel, will be available for sale. The event is made possible by donations from the public and with the help of volunteers.
