Bay Area teens will be marching to bring awareness to the issue of social isolation and standing up for one another’s differences.
Millions of middle school children suffer every day from feeling left out or socially isolated simply because they are seen as different.
Beyond Differences created the #WhatsMyDifferent campaign, a diverse collection of stories from real people courageously sharing their unique differences and the often painful experience of middle school. Each story ends by challenging viewers with the simple question, “Will you look beyond my different?"
Teen Board members from Beyond Differences stepped up to share their own #WhatsMyDifferent stories and are now taking it to the streets in the form of a student march. This event is free and open to anyone who supports youth talking about and going beyond differences.
Keynote speaker: Honorable Lateefah Simon, nationally recognized advocate for civil rights, president of the Akonadi Foundation and Director of District 7 BART Board of Directors
