Watch "NAILED IT" at #CAAMFest36 with Asia Society YPG

SEE EVENT DETAILS
The Asia Sociey Northern California Young Professionals Group (ASYPG) is proud to co-present the US premiere of Adele Free Pham's documentary NAILED IT on Saturday, May 19th at the Center for Asian American Media's (CAAM) 36th annual CAAMFest.  Ever had a manicure? You can probably thank Tippi Hedren, star of Hitchcock’s THE BIRDS. Actually, you can thank the bravery, ingenuity, and sheer determination of 20 Vietnamese refugee women who, in 1975, took intensive training in salon arts courtesy of Hedren’s philanthropy. They turned what they learned into a multibillion dollar industry that supports their families and their community to this day. NAILED IT, a CAAM-funded film, reaches back to uncover this story and introduces key players in the development of the industry. Filmmaker Adele Free Pham treats us to an emotional reunion between Hedren and the women she helped in 1975, and the film make parallels between the harrowing experiences of Vietnamese refugees and current refugee crises worldwide. The film celebrates both the art and soul of nails with fun illustrations by Debbie Allen and Jason DSouza reminiscent of the TV series BROAD CITY.
Expected Guest in Attendance at the Screening: Adele Free Pham (Director)TicketsIf we can confirm by Monday, May 16th, at least 10 or more members want to see NAILED IT, we can qualify for the group rate of $10 per ticket (a savings of $4 off the general admission ticket rate). On Monday, May 16th, we will review the RSVPs and if we have at least 10 RSVPs, we will refund you the difference between the $14 ticket price and the $10 group ticket rate.If we cannot confirm that at least 10 or more people want to buy tickets, the non-group ticket rate of $14 will stand.
