Plus Hardware Wars (Restored Edition)
In Person: John Stanley, filmmakers Tom Wyrsch & Ernie Fosselius
Sunday, April 28, 4:15
$12 (CFI members & children $9)
One of the most beloved TV shows in Bay Area history was Creature Features, broadcast from KTVU Channel 2 in Oakland from 1971 to 1984. Bob Wilkins was the host for eight years, and John Stanley followed for another six, adding their commentary to classic (and not-so-classic) horror movies- a nostalgic memory for many who grew up here. Filmmaker Tom Wyrsch, who has produced popular films on such San Francisco landmarks as Playland at the Beach, The Sutro Baths and the Cliff House, focuses loving attention on another long-lost institution. He will present his documentary and be joined on stage by Creature Features host John Stanley. Before the feature, filmmaker Ernie Fosselius, a memorable Creature Features guest, will unveil his newly restored version of Hardware Wars, the classic parody of you-know-what science fiction epic. Films approximately 80 min. plus discussion.
