Want a job in Biotech? Join us for our Biotechnology Job Panel

SEE EVENT DETAILS
We are looking forward to seeing you at the Biotech job panel! Some event information:
• There are many public transportation options to get to USF. For those of you driving, street parking can usually be found on the side streets near campus - between Golden Gate Ave. and Turk St. for example.
• The event will be held in the Lo Schiavo (LS) building, Room 103 on USF's main campus. Lo Schiavo (LS) can be found on the campus map on this webpage:
https://www.usfca.edu/sites/default/files/pdfs/usf-campus-map.pdf
• When you enter Lo Schiavo (the big new building with large windows), go to classroom #103 on the first floor (not floor G).  The job panel event will start at 6:30 pm and continue until 7:30 pm.
• Immediately following the job panel event, we will hold a reception (7:30 pm to 9:00 pm) in the Getty Lounge--right outside classroom #103.

The biotechnology industry is one of the fastest growing in the nation. Right here in the San Francisco Bay Area, the birthplace of the biotechnology, we have one of the biggest collections of biotech companies in the entire world. Tens of thousands are employed in fulfilling and well-paid positions in global companies from Genentech to a multitude of start-ups.
How to break into the biotech industry is still a mystery for many students and young professionals. You may be equipped with a biology undergraduate degree and some lab experience but have had no succcess when trying to apply to open positions online. Alternatively, you may have a position in biotech but are curious about switching into a different role such as clinical, regulatory, or business development.
We are assembling a panel of experts for a question and answer session about getting your first job in biotech or switching jobs in biotech. Our panelists include:
Toby Freedman, Ph.D.: Author of the book Career Opportunities in Biotechnology and Drug Development. President of the bay area based recruiting firm Synapsis Search.
Parmveer Singh, M.S.: Manager, Business Development at Plexxikon, Inc. Parmveer will provide insight about what it is like to work at a medium sized biotech in a business role.
Stephanie Martin, M.S.: Research Associate at Encoded Therapeutics, Inc. Stephanie will share her experiences working at a biotech start-up as a lab researcher.
This is a free event to attend. Food and drinks will be provided in the Getty Study on the first floor of the Lo Schiavo builidng immediately after the job panel event. Please e-mail USF Prof. Brian Young at [email protected] with questions.
