VR and Space: The Final Frontier with Virtual Reality

SEE EVENT DETAILS
Virtual Reality in Space: The Next Big Thing?
What role could virtual reality play in humanity’s quest to explore the cosmos? Can we use this powerful new tool to explore and better understand our own solar system? Can it help us study and travel to nearby stars—and perhaps even colonize their planets? Will it ever help humanity harvest the infinite amount of energy and resources available in space?
CEO and founder of SpaceVR, Ryan Holmes will discuss how we can use Virtual Reality for space exploration, and some of the key challenges in building a VR company for Space. We will also discuss the many ways in which virtual reality may help propel humanity into and across the universe. We’ll also look at how this powerful new tool might help scientists, engineers, and educators build, share, and describe future projects—and share the challenge of space exploration with people all over the world.
Join us for demos, mingling, drinks/snacks, followed by a SpaceVR presentation at 6:30pm.

Event Schedule:
6:00pm: Doors open - Mingle, VR space demos, drinks/snacks
6:30pm: CEO & Founder Ryan Holmes (SpaceVR and Humon AI) keynote speech
7:30pm: Q/A, more demos, drinks/snacks, mingling

About SpaceVR:
Founded in January 2015 by Ryan Holmes, CEO, SpaceVR is the world's first virtual reality platform allowing users to #BeAnAstronaut and experiecne space firsthand from any mobile, desktop, or virutal reality device. Through the use of 360-degree cameras, SpaceVR technology feeds footage from low earth orbit back to Earth so consumers can experience space travel in immersive virtual reality.

About Humon AI:
Humon is creating a database of all human tasks by collecting zettabytes of data from our remote operated general purpose avatar, Humon. We see Humon as the obvious future of space exploration. Currently it costs $200m per year to maintain one astronaut in space. We can do the same for $1m per year with Humon. Increasing our ability to do space science and space exploration by 200 times.

About Upload:
Upload is a co-working space dedicated to emerging technologies. We believe in people. Bringing together passionate groups leads to thoughtful ideas; from passionate ideas grow amazing products. We are on a mission to support the emerging technology communities around us, and accelerate the growth of those industries.
We are also an educational organization offering VR/AR development and design workshops. We offer weekend workshops and a longer form VR development and design course, ideal for those aspiring to break into the industry.
